Earth Day 2010: 40 Years and Going Strong

Published by EHS Today on Friday, 22 April, 2011 by Laura Walter

On the 40th anniversary of Earth Day on April 22, organizations and communities across the nation will come together to celebrate, honor and protect the earth while promoting sustainability and environmental awareness.

“Forty years ago, Americans across the nation took up a call for cleaner air, safer water and unpolluted land,” said EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson in an Earth Day message. “They saw that to keep our families healthy, to build clean communities and to make America stronger for the future, we needed to protect and preserve our environment.”

EPA will hold free Earth Day events on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., April 24 and 25, where Jackson and senior EPA officials will be in attendance. Exhibits will include an environmental crime scene forensics demonstration; cutting-edge automotive technology; climate change habitat loss exhibits; environmental videos; an interactive environmental hazards booth for kids; backyard composting demonstrations; a Chesapeake Bay water model; and more.

“As we look to the past, we are also focused on …

Feeling Skeptical about “Green” Products?

To find the line between greenwashing and environmental victory, Wake Forest University Sustainability Director Dedee DeLongpré Johnston advised, “If something sounds too good to be true, it likely is.”

That means even products touted as organic or eco-smart might not be as Earth-friendly as they seem. Before purchasing that product, consider the following:

Where was the product made, with what materials, and under what conditions?
How much water and …

2013 Ford Focus Electric Car

Ford Motor Company has unveiled its all-new Focus Electric – the company’s first all-electric passenger car.

The zero-emissions, gasoline-free version of Ford’s popular small car is the flagship of the company’s growing fleet of hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles coming to North America and Europe by 2013. The Focus Electric will launch in late 2011 and is designed to offer enough range to cover the majority of daily driving habits of Americans. It will offer a mile-per-gallon equivalent better than Chevrolet Volt and be competitive with other battery electric vehicles. A full recharge is expected to take 3-4 hours at home with the 240-volt charge station – half the time of the Nissan Leaf.

Focus Electric introduces new features and technologies – including a unique version of the MyFord Touch driver connect system for electric vehicles, a new value charging feature powered by Microsoft, and a smartphone app called MyFord Mobile that helps plug-in owners control their vehicle remotely. The stylish five-door hatchback leverages Ford’s global C-car platform shared by the gasoline and diesel-powered Focus models, which debuted at the 2010 North American International Auto Show and were launched at the Paris Motor Show in September.

Both the Focus gasoline and electric …

Why eco-friendly products do not appeal to consumers?

Going green seems to have become a cliché tactic now to attract consumers towards brands that (often) make fake promises or lack in proving their eco-friendliness to the consumers. Most brands these days make ‘green’ announcements, eying on the consumer pockets with green buck to increase their brand value and product sales.

Green revolution is indeed a need of the time and consumers are well aware about choosing right products that genuinely fulfill the promises made. However, brands tend to misuse consumer sentiments that eventually lead to losses of both goodwill and profits.

What is the Impact of Wealth on the Environment?

What I’m going to say may have nothing to do with ecology or environment but … it helps with wealthy living.

Wealthy living may have immense impact on the environment; both positive or negative. Obviously, it will depend on what one will do with its wealth but I choose thinking positively. 🙂

OK, the wealthy living can start with FREE gift or with some money spent on product or for education. Here is a product which will give you education, it is FREE and by learning you will invest in yourself. What could be better?

Some, will be skeptical because nothing is for FREE and this true, some other will say it must rubbish because is or FREE. Will the last pay is it wasn’t? Maybe but there is no guarantee. I would agree with the first because the price one will pay is time and effort to do something others will not to be bothered.

At least, if you get something that is FREE and you do not like it you can easily get rid of it without pain, it was FREE anyway or  find yourself in the beneficiary position and ahead of others just by gaining useful knowledge. The call is yours.

So, HERE AGAIN is the Educational and FREE product for You to explore and gain.

Remember: Be First, The Second is The First Looser. 🙂
